Copenhagen 8/10 2023. 33 cl can from SuperBrugsen, Nørrebrogade, Kbh. N. As "Mikkeller Single Hop Series CITRA APA". Orange can with a Keith Shore drawing of a lady and a guy fooling around.
Pours unclear, pale yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as a thin patch of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a light odor of tropical fruit soon overpowered by a strong citric scent. Pineapple, mango and peach. Grapefruit and lemon.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is moderately intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry.
A bit flat but nicely bitter.

A 330ml can with a best before date of 8th November 2017. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy dark amber colour with a two finger off white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: A bit light but there’s citrus and tropical grapefruit, melon and peach with hints of caramel and pine.
Taste: Bitter grapefruit, citrus orange, pine, grass and caramel maltiness. The booziness was also actually quite obvious here.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This was ok, but the malts overpowered the hops and it was surprisingly boozy.

All right beer with citrus and tropical notes. The malt base is nice but a bit odd. The bitterness is herbal and almost pilsner like. Balance and drinkable but nothing over the top here. A bit boozy

Can, 7 months until the BB date. Hazy dark orange color with beige head. Smells like old hops and oxidation, earthy with cardboard notes. Taste has also cardboard, some fusel alcohol, medium earthy bitterness on the finish. Lingers dry with earthy hops and bitter grapefruit. Medium body and carbonation. I think this is the worst from the single hop series. Had multiple cans and all were off.

Orange pour and a full inch of head, impressive on a hoppy beer. His that straightforward citrus aroma in the nose.
Still hits the citra on the tongue, good light toasted malts don't interfere with the hop. Very expensive beer though, there are plenty of other citra beers that you don't have to ship half way around the world, and at $7 for a 12oz beer, this is kinda ridiculous to ever purchase again, despite it being one of the better single hop examples I've had.

33 cl can purchased at Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop in Denmark. I haven't been a huge fan of the Mikkeller single hop series because they are so malty. It just didn't work for the Mosaic and Citra versions. The heavy malt bill really hides that great Citra hop profile.
