Say hello to this stunning Mikkeller Baghaven white wine grape/Danish Wild Ale hybrid, Blanca.

The Spanish Priorat wine region is home to rocky soil, steep slopes and harsh growing conditions, which produce grapes with pronounced minerality and boldness. Known primarily for its complex and intense red wines, Priorat has a hidden gem: Granatxa Blanca, a white variety characterized by its freshness and aromatic complexity.

The 2021 harvest was the first obtainable harvest for this particular vineyard, making Blanca 2021 the first of its kind for both Baghaven and the farmers who artfully cultivated the grapes.

Copenhagen 25/2 2023. 75 cl corked bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Baghaven's usual label design in off-white and green with a drawing of their facility.

Pours unclear - almost opaque - yellow with a mid-sized white head. Bubbly. Disappears more or less ayer 10 seconds leaving a thin ri of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a light fruity sweet odor soon overpowered by a tart, sour scent of unripe grapes and citrus. Peach and currants. Green sour grapes, gooseberries and citrus. Light touch of vinegar.

Rather strong carbonation. Thin, oily, lively, almost fizzy texture.

Flavor is intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is tart and austere Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Tart and bone dry. Like a Frascati from the eighties.
