SAS Spontancherry is a lambic-style Belgian ale originally made for SAS' business class, but here you have the opportunity to try it without having to fly high in either price or physicality.

The beer is aged in oak barrels, and has a delicious dark red color. In the aroma you will find a distinctive acidity from citrus fruits, cherries and a slightly vinous nuance from the fermentation process.

The taste is slightly acidic, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. The taste initially bears the mark of the barrel aging with some woody, sweet notes and then transitions into a dry, acidic bouquet of juicy cherries.

Copenhagen 23/2 2020. 37,5 corked bottle from Mikkeller Web-shop. Usual Wing-pin series design with the golden wings of SAS and Keith Shore's fellow with the black har. This time in fiery red.

Pours opaque dark burgundy with a medium-sized, bubbly pink head. Settles as creamy layer of foam covering the surface. Clinging to the side of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is intense, very sweet with light tart notes. Heavy odor of cherry, sugar and alcohol. Like a lighter version of cherry wine. Tart notes sour berries peeking in.

Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, soft, creamy, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a slightly stronger, tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour with a light sweet undercurrent. Lingering. Lightly boozy and sweet finish.

Quite a Cherry Bomb. But has a fine balance between the sweet vines intensity and the tart fruitiness.
