This poured a solid black, like used motor oil. More stout than porter? It’s listed as an English porter, so there.
There’s a pleasing aroma with all the right notes—dark roast, coffee, chocolate—underscored by a hint of heat. That comes through from the first sip on, mildly at first but then it kicks in as the beer trickles down the back of your throat. It’s not a heat sink but the sweet and slightly smoldering habanero flavor gives this beer a definition that sets it apart from a typical porter.

Vrooom! This bad sucker made Raul wanna take off and get lifted into outer space! Hot, but not too hot like Katherine Webb. Smooth, but not too smooth like Larry David. This thang was just done pretty solid all around.

Appearance: Dark pepper-black. Lacing is just ok.
Smell: Spicy raisins and some caramel. Almost like a fruit cake, including the rum. This is better.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Lots of black pepper, dark fruit, and spices, especially the habanero oil. After some warming, this really is excellent. Mouthfeel has an incredible burn nothing like hard liquor; it's definitely the hot pepper.
Overall Drinkability: This one creeps up on you.
