Sample at the brew pub: Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin and dense light beige head that retains well. Top ring of lacing on the glass with spots underneath. The aroma is thoroughly malty with a moderate caramel and hops presence. Medium, smooth body with a decent balance of malt, hops and fruit flavors. The finish is mostly sweet, earthy hops to start, and leaves a nice hops aftertaste. One of the better brews I tried at Tun.

This is a nice new offering from the Tun and one I hope is thrown into the rotation on a regular basis.
It pours a nice crisp amber colour with a midly creamy and sticky off-white head.
The aroma is fairly basic, primarily floral hop with some fruit notes and some earthy malt with perhaps a hint of caramel in there as well.
The hops are stepped up a notch in the flavour where they are floral and sweet, but don't every really get juicy. The malt backbone is definitely apparent and provides for some nice balance here as well as some sporadic notes of burnt/roasted flavour, but it definitely takes a back seat to the hops, which aren't overpowering, just easily more noticeable, most of the time. The mouthfeel is crisp and fresh and nice overall.
This is a tasty brew that is nicely balanced and doesn't go over the top in any aspect or try to throw anthing bizarre into the mix. The Brewer listed this one as an ESB so that's what I'm entering it as, but I found it to be much more like a semi-hoppy Amber Ale, and similar in some aspects to Troegs HopBack Amber, which is a beer that I really really dig. While the Brewer's Gold isnt as bold and flavourful as that beer, it is still nice in its own right and definitely worth a sample.
