sampled at pub

A: Poured a dark golden-amber with a slight off white head.

S: On the nose was a huge citrus aroma, with a light floral hopping and a rich sweet caramel backing.

T: The flavor was sweet and malty with sharp citrus hopping. There was a nice flowery hop bite before finishing with some caramel raisins, and a spicy citrusy hoppiness.

M: medium and very smooth, with a nice balance between the sweet malts and hops.

D: A really nice and very clean flavored esb enjoyable in mulitiples.

This is a brand new ESB from the Tun from their brand-new (now new-ish at this point) brewer, and should not be confused with the Sterling or Brewer's Gold ESB's that Ted brewed previously.

Pours a nice crisp looking light amber colour with a big frothy head that has a good amount of stickiness to it and dissolves to a faint lace.

The aroma is a blend of caramel malt, faintly dirty hops, and perhaps (perhaps) a touch of butter detected(?). Simple, but pretty good stuff in the end.

The flavour starts with the caramel sweetness (as the aroma first noted as well) and quickly moves into a bit of earthiness before really blending with the hops to make for an almost spicy at times finish. The butter notes picked up in the aroma aren't really present here. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a bit of a watery fee to it at times.

I liked this one. It's very basic (as, to me, an ESB should be for the most part) but has good flavour and balance to it. A nice addition to the Tun lineup.
