On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad – 02/05/2014
Full Pint
A: Light caramel body with a softly burnished brass hue to it. Mostly clear with a touch of chill haze through the glass. A smooth lather of ivory cream comes to rest over top before settling out to a small film. A few wild streamers of sticky lace decorate the glass on the way down. .
S: Smells like dem Simcoe hops of course. A classic blend of sappy pine, dank buds, and candied grapefruit. Not super pungent but definitely prevalent. There is a light undercurrent of pale malt sweetness to this as well. A real nice waft. Could use a little more punch but at least I am getting Simcoe here.
T: Simcoes be all up in dat flavor tho. What may have been lacking in the aroma is made up in spades here. This is just super danky and herbal with grapefruit highlights and some surrounding pine boughs. I get a dash of caramel sweetness rounding things out and a soft breadiness lying underneath. The bitterness is somewhat moderate and restrained while providing a nice resinous linger. Alcohol is kept well masked throughout giving great balance with some real great Simcoe flavor. Very solid indeed.
M: Light moderate filling body with an even level of carbonation. Moderate actual bitterness accentuated by a drying finish and a nice lasting linger.
D: Another nice little hop offering here at Pizza Port. You know Simcoes are always reliable choice. Especially when used in a single hop brew. This is comparable to Russian Rivers Row2/Hill56 I would say.

Nice bright nearly clear yellow. Nose is somewhat vegetal with a bit of sweetness. Cilantro flavor backed with nice residual malt sweetness on the back. Very well balanced.
