This is a 30th Anniversary special brew to celebrate Pizza Port and its awesomeness.
I love these hoppy American Red Ales, they are simply great and knock all the English Reds out. Amazing deep amber color, smells almost like a West Coast IPA! Its taste is also very close well backed with caramel malts and hoppy bitterness.
It's full of bitter US hops from the beginning to the end and it's easier to drink than an IPA.
It doesn't really describe this beer but I simply loooove American Red Ales, for being so hoppy and bitter, for all the feeling they bring. I am glad that Pizza Port decided to celebrate their 30th Anniversary with this Red Ale. Congrats!

From Degustasur. Can. In Teku glass. Playing Neighbouring Islands. Not a fan of the style but this one is well executed. Pleasant hop presence but maybe missing a bit more hoppy taste to stand out

Pours a ruby colored brown. Clear and crisp in appearance. Effervescent with a a thin off-white head. Head dissipates leaving a thin layer of fuzzy foam. Sticky off-white lacing is left behind as the beer is consumed.
Smell is a blend of earthy hops, caramel malts, some spice and a touch of grass.
Taste follows the nose with some caramel malts, earthy hops, touch of grass giving way to a lemony finish with some oaky/woody notes lingering on the tongue in the finish. Bitter finish, but balanced. A touch of sweetness, but not much.
Feel is light to medium bodied and crisp. Medium carbonation. Some dryness on the finish.
Overall a really well crafted amber/red ale. Not a style I usually drink, but this was outstanding.

Crystal clear, dark amber to red with a sticky off white head that persists. Smells of caramel and roasted malts with a blend of dank, earthy and spicy hops. Taste is much the same, but less sweet than expected. A good amount of resin an roasted malts balanced by a sweet caramel flavor. Medium richness, good carbonation, bitter and dry finish but some residual stickiness coats the mouth and tongue. Overall, this is an outstanding American Red Ale, and I'd expect nothing less from the great crew at Pizza Port. Cheers!
