Collaboration with El Segundo Brewing Company
In 2017 we teamed up with our beer buddies from ESBC to brew the very hoppy Surfin' Bird DIPA. Smaller, but just as loud, Chirpin' Bird is the new bird in town and he rips just as hard as his cousin. This single IPA bursts with a hop blend of Citra, Loral and Idaho 7 that will leave you frothing for more. Chirpin' Bird was drawn by legendary surf artist SoCal surf artist Steve Nazar, famous for the "Thrilla Krew."

Pours golden ale with white cap. Crisp, clean, hoppy fresh and beautiful. Good classic IPA on draft at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Cheers to good IPA at 7.7% ABV.

Pale straw with an equally pale haze, no carbonation and 3 fingers of white head.
Smells of creme brulee and canned pineapple.
Tastes of pineapple, creme brulee, grapefruit pith and a moderate, dull bitterness.
Medium, syrupy body with below moderate carbonation.
I got this in Reno and am drinking it in Redding, Sept 3rd, 2019. Decent brew.

Fantastic clarity. Solid gold, with a billowy white cap. Bursting with aroma, melony and tropical. Touch of lifesavers fruit candy and some orange pith on the finish. Yum!

Picked this up on a whim at the closest liquor store while intending to pick up Coronado’s Weekend Vibes. I figured that Pizza Port (although usually overrated for me in terms of IPAs) and El Segundo would make a pretty good collab. Checked on Untappd quickly to see that I hadn’t tried it yet. Can read, “In 2017 we teamed up with our beer buddies from ESBC to brew the very hoppy Surfin' Bird DIPA. Poured a golden clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white head. Some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass and different speeds. Excellent layered lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled lemon zest, lime, cantaloupe, melon, citrus, herbal, green leaf and eucalyptus. Wasn’t really picking out any of the mentioned hops from the glass except for a little bit of Idaho 7. From the can got more of the hops with Idaho 7 and Citra coming through, and what I thought to be Loral. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste was a bit different than the nose. Definitely got some spice. In order got pine, resin, wood, lingering pepper, papaya, Idaho 7, grapefruit peel, lemon, dish soap, herbal and green leaf. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, spicy finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was definitely an old school West Coast IPA. Couldn’t quite pull the trigger on a 3.75 for the taste, although it was close. Overall it was very good. (Overall - 3.75)

I think this was a pretty good well balanced lower-IBU IPA. It's crisp, fruity, a little bit malty, and with some hop-bite. I was impressed by the clear look and the mighty head.
Look: clear light golden with a very thick white head
Aroma: floral hops and grapefruit, somewhat subdued aroma
Flavor: crackers, caramel, fruity, grapefruit, mango, and with a pine resin flavor at the end, not very much, but good enough.
Feel: light body

This is a really good IPA in the West Coast style. Floral hops combine with sweet bready malts on the nose.
On the tongue I get a sweet, soft malty hit almost like this is going to be an APA but then that’s followed by a complex fruity bitterness on the back of the tongue. Flavors are strong but still balanced against a bready body and include grapefruit and orange zest with piney grapefruit and herbal pepper notes. Not blowing me away overall but very good and amazing for the style and at a very affordable price.
Mouthfeel is soft and mederate but manages to finish dry. Oh yeah, this is good ish. Citra shines brighter as it warms.
Props brewmasters! I could drink this all summer long! Imagine it on tap in the campground at Yosemite. Biometric access and you’ve got the fingerprint!

Show me a more beautiful IPA than this. You can't. Crystal clear polished brass with a bone white pillow of merangue that relentlessly plasters the glass.
Wonderful aroma of the most freshly crushed grain I've ever encountered, with a delicious and simply classic pine and grapefruit highlight. Oh yeah, weed too.
Flavor almost mirror the above. Very citrus and herbal forward combined, with a clean and simple bready malt undertow.
Clean, bitter, and almost lager like. A wonderfully refreshing drinker with bright bursts of carbonation.
Another enjoyable and well executed beer from two of my favorite Southern California breweries.
Cheers.
