A clear and clean IPA featuring Simcoe and Sabro hops. The tropical aromas of lime, coconut, pineapple, and lemongrass are balanced with a slight cedar bitterness and clean malt flavors.

Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $2.34
From: Trader Joe’s in College Area (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 23, 2022
Consumed: April 23, 2022
Misc.: Canned on April 4, 2022 at 12:01 p.m. PT
Grabbed a variety 6-pack and a 4-pack of El Segundo’s Broken Skull Lager after a quick stop with the family. Pizza Port’s website called for “A clear and clean IPA featuring Simcoe and Sabro hops at 7.0% ABV. The tropical aromas of lime, coconut, pineapple, lemongrass are balanced with a slight cedar bitterness and clean malt flavors.”
Poured a medium yellow clear color with three fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass. Perfect foamy spiderweb lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Simcoe, pine, lime, lemon, grass, black pepper, onion, light Sabro, coconut, cedar and hints of papaya. Smelled even better from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted a little worse than the smell but still pretty good. Got Simcoe, black pepper, onion, pine, lime, lemon, grass, light Sabro, coconut, cedar, papaya and pineapple. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was pretty good, almost outstanding. On the higher side for me for Pizza Port IPAs. (Overall - 4.00)

Can poured in a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours golden amber with a frothy pale tan head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Herbal, pine, floral, a bit woodsy, light citrus zest, a hint of coconut, super subtle fruity notes, bready malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Herbal resinous pine, quickly followed with citrus, tangerine, solid hit of coconut, floral, underlying fruity notes, peach, mango, passion fruit, and a hint of pineapple, a bit woodsy, bready malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: A touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Took my tongue a sec to figure out everything that was going on. Pizza Port again showing they can take jus about any hops and make a nice West Coast IPA of them. I'm still not wild about Sabro, but I actually kinda dig what it brings to the party here. Wish the nose was livelier, but I'd still happily crush this on a hidden beach.

First impression: it’s definitely different. Not like the kid that sat behind you in the 4th grade that smelled like he never showered different, but different like Brittany who always kicked your ass at four square and kept you on your toes. And just like how Brittany moved away in the 6th grade, I’ll probably move away from Remote Location. It’s an ok offering, but it just doesn’t linger like a Cranberries song.

On tap at their OB location. Another tasty WC IPA that Pizza Port is known for. Bitter, dank, dry…goes perfect with their food.

canned 3/17, consumed 4/4/22 from a tall tulip. A fine looking beer. 1.5 finger brilliant white firm foam that leaves lacing. Crystal clear with fine rising bubbles. A single dot of entrained sediment that I can easily overlook. Gold color. Smell and taste are classic WCIPA. Some malt and some hop bitterness nicely combined. Moderate body. Clean mouthfeel. I really nice WCIPA.
