Consumed at Pizza Port San Clemente on September 8th, 2013.
Deep yellow, slightly hazy. Less than one finger of foamy white head. Very slight lace and sheeting that doesn't last long.
Banana, clove and spicy phenols are present, but it has a mild aroma overall.
Soft, powdery flavor. Slight clove. Bitter hop bite at the end. Not getting the fruits others have mentioned. Maybe this a keg they put away for a year and the beer faded?
Well-carbonated, thirst-quenching.
Doesn't bring anything new to the table, but a well-executed take on the style, if a little dull.

On-tap at Pizza Port San Clemente
The pour is a golden straw color with a nice white head. Aroma of straw and yeast with some sweet bread. A mild spice note to go with banana, apple, and a hint of pear. Taste is peppery and lightly earthy as well as a touch sweet from bready malt. Light fruit character, some pepper, and a hint of bitterness.

On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente.
A: Bright yellow with an inch of white froth. Lacing is scattered.
S: Peppery phenols blend with aromatic floral and ester character, redolent of banana, pear, and lemon.
T: Apple, pear, lemon, and a dash of banana. Pepper-like spiciness on the palate with earthy notes. Dry spicy finish.
M: Upper light in body with high carbonation.
Overall: This is a nice Saison. Better than I expected.

Golden color in the tall tulip with an abbreviated head. Some sparkle, but more nearly flat on the tongue.
Fairly rich, medium body, some fragrance of orange peel. A hint of malty sweetness along with the Belgian bitterness. Fruitiness is the best feature. Unfortunately, the standout feature is pencil shavings, like a beer with too much white pepper added. Finishes on the dry side with a lingering bitterness.
Not so pleasing as lots of other Saisons, but I always have to give them a try. Pizza Port is always coming up with new variations, so have to give them credit for that. Brewed at San Clemente, but on tap at the OB location. $4.50 for 12 oz.
