NTIAM IPA is a revamped iteration of the NTIAM IPA we have done in the past. For NTIAM IPA this year Curt changed the recipe from the two previous batches, along with the hops and hop schedule. The past two batches featured Zythos and 7 C's opposite Simcoe. This year and in the future, it will be a single-hop Simcoe IPA. Since it's technically a different beer, but the soul of it is still the same, we are going to call this NTIAM IPA going forward. As a former Pitt student, I know the Pitt faithful use NTIAM and NTIAM interchangeably, so it seemed fitting to change the "T" to a "T" for version T.0. Inspired by the IPAs I fell in love with in California and deepened my college experience in South Oakland,
NTIAM IPA is a 8.6% west coast-style IPA brewed with four kinds of malted barley and a ridiculous amount of Simcoe hops with five kettle additions and two dry hops. The nose of the beer is rich in pine and fruit notes, with hints passion fruit, apricot, along with woodsy and floral undertones. Medium bodied, this beer starts with a mildly bitter taste that gives way to the pine and fruit notes found in the nose on the back end. NTIAM IPA is a bright and crisp IPA that was designed to be highly drinkable, exceedingly flavorful and aromatic, but without being abrasively bitter. As production allows, we hope to continue to provide this beer to the Pittsburgh market and the Pitt faithful.

I am trying this beer off the tapper as part of a six sample flight. The beer poured a clear golden with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent dank orange/blood orange notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet malt base dank pineapple and orange presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is gold, transparent, effervescent, off white head presents 1 finger thick and lingers with solid top, head laces the glass sides.
Smell is subdued for the size - notable citric and pine hop, light malt and toast, no boozy notes even at this strength.
Taste is hop forward with blended citric pith and pine hops, light earthiness, some toast and barley malt, maybe light sweetness.
Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness - lingering bite on the tongue.
Overall a big but drinkable DIPA - much preferable to 90% of HIPAs at this strength.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one, from the erect NBS BIF #14. 16oz can (dated 9/14/21) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a very cloudy (it's listed here as an American IPA, but visually, it borders on NEIPA category)yellow-orange color with a bit of an inch of white head that had moderate retention and light lacing.
The aroma also tends towards the NEIPA side of things; low grain, frooty hops, and just a hint of C-hop bitterness.
On the tongue, the more 'traditional' hops were the lead flavor. Definite, solid bite and bitterness, but still no real grain/malt aspect.
The body was light-medium, mostly smooth with a touch of coarseness, and had a medium-dry finish.
Drinkability was good, would certainly have again.
Overall, despite the personality crisis the beer seems to have, it's nicely enjoyable. Worth grabbing if you see it.

Sparkling clear burnt gold with a moderate off-white blanket settling to a spotty, bubbly surface with a curled collar.
Classic, crisp and quaffable, NTIAM comes together with that distinct West Coast IPA expression that's more appropriately identified as such, as opposed to picking it apart.
However, in attempting to do so, it delivers perfumey evergreen with a bright spritz of citrus rind and a touch of buttered cracker, where the medium body finishes semi-dry with a punch of bitter heat.

Found at Off Premise, a boutique shop in Lincoln Park, Chicago.
This Voodoo has to be an intense brewery to be found out in the middle of not too much. Beer must keep them going.
But wait, not only do they have some really consistently eccentric brews (this is not uncommon among micros), but they are opening their tenth taproom.
Non-Trademark starts true to advertising: not distinguished in its Looks. But then it immediately pushes the envelope and uses only one hop (Simcoe, a good choice) that is full of pine and fruity aromatics. Tastes are reasonably well balanced, given that there is just enough bitterness to keep me drinking.... but not too much for a malt-head like me. It finishes dry, but the fruit keeps fighting for attention. A decent IPA... and that is high praise from me.

Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Clear golden pour with 2 fingers of foamy white head.
S: Citrus and pine. West Coast style IPA.
T.F: Follows the nose. Toasted malts up front... strong pine and resin... lighter citrus. Herbal notes... fairly assertive bitterness. Medium bodied.
O: A decent enough West Coast leaning IPA..... something of a throwback beer. Above average... not one to seek out.
