CAUTION! CONTAINS REAL PUMPKIN!!! is our seasonal barleywine brewed with over 200 pounds of real pumpkin and aged this year in Early Times whiskey barrels with Madagascar vanilla beans, even more pumpkin and a hint of cinnamon.
New this year, we took half of that same batch of CAUTION! CONTAINS REAL PUMPKIN!!! and conditioned it on pecans and added caramel to it. We felt the flavor notes of caramel, nuts and brown sugar blend well with this barleywine.

Very sweet. I know caramel is all sugar but this just didn’t work for me. I really enjoy pumpkin beers especially the barrel aged stuff. I enjoy the Voodoo brews, this one just wasn’t for me.

2021 vintage; consumed on 11/22/2022
Pours a nearly crystal-clear, ruddy mahogany body capped with a short-lived finger and a half of soapy, off-white foam, showing persistent effervescence contrasting minimal cap and collar, while a similar absence of lacing leaves the walls of the glass virtually bare.
Aromas of butterscotch meet vanilla to a melted caramel richness, accented with toasted pecans, brown sugar, and light cinnamon as a residual cocoa leans toward vage barrel presence.
Taste offers decadent melted caramel upfront as a toasty butterscotch contrast builds; soft vanilla to a more robust pecan pie filling coats the mid-palate while oaky bourbon lingers delicately; pumpkin is a passive, background influence as whiskey airs cautiously across the profile.
Mouthfeel shows a medium-light body along with a lower-end carbonation, dispersing a pseudo-stickiness against an airy char and drying oak past the mid-palate, while a subtle undercurrent of warming booziness washes over the finish.
Prodding sweetness distracted by intermittent drying oak barrel becomes overwhelming at times, though simultaneously results in possibly the most intentional autumn-themed sipper I've tried to-date; a rich cornucopia of seasonal texturing.

This one pours a slightly murky golden brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like caramel, cinnamon, oak, pecan and nuttiness, and pumpkin bread.
I think I like the original Caution a little bit better, as there was more barrel on that one. The caramel and pecan play reasonably well with it though, especially the pecan, as nuttiness goes well with the spice, breadiness, and oak here.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, but a bit bitter, boozy and oaky on the back end.
This isn’t perfect by any means, but I enjoyed it.

The fairly clear if only lightly foggy dark amber to caramel brown body has a short khaki head that settles to a swirling film and finely bubbly collar.
Simultaneously way more interesting yet also heavier on the barrel than other versions I've had, it's definitely got flamey whiskey vanilla vibes that are spicy, even a little hot, but contrasted by some smooth caramels that sometimes translate as Werther's and butterscotch drizzle.
The medium-light body is dichotomously syrupy yet crisp, finishing semi-dry and quite warming.
