Lime wax V3, aged 31 months in Blanton’s bourbon barrels.

This pours a fairly dark black color, deep and dense, with a small head, and not much lacing.

The barrel character just leaps out of the glass and aggressively massages your nose. It’s got some nice char, vanilla, espresso, cookie dough, vanilla, all that, with dark chocolate, dark fruit, tobacco, and burnt caramel.

This is 10000% classic barrel aged Voodoo – this series should get more recognition. The barrel character is dynamite – punchy, vibrant, and dense, with chocolate chip cookie dough, dense shots of espresso, bittersweet vanilla, spicy oak, and caramelly bourbon, with lesser notes of burnt tobacco, licorice, raisin, and molasses. It’s so wonderfully complex and I wish I had more of it.

This is medium bodied, full and creamy, but not ridiculously thick, with no real booziness to it.

This is most assuredly a home run in my book.

Many thanks to noblepudding for this green-waxed 12 oz. bottle that arrived among many, many great beers. Dated 12/21.

Black. Reeks of booze, chocolate, & wood.

Voodoo V3 – Blanton’s Barrel tastes as fresh as sipping outta the bung hole. A pond of sweet malts buoys a wickedly smooth barrel, leaving the impression of a tweed jacket sipper. Strangely, the booze is more aggressive than the bourbon. Rooty, bitter, oak chocolate in the middle before the booze insists on being heard on more time. Sticky. Glad to have this to myself.

A beer that tiptoes over the line to excellent. Who’d expect less from this brewery’s stouts?

Only lottery I missed in the last 7 months. Got this one as an extra on a trade and almost traded it away but said fuckit let's try it out instead.

Thoughts are wtf why has this not been hyped like other voodoo collabs? Who cares. Love it. This. Dense. Roasty/borderline burnt. Heavy char. Bakera cocoa. Couldn't give two fucks less about the blantons barrel the base fucks. Have not had the pink wax but interested in it now too.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter. pours an oily black with a tiny bit of michael brown foam which settles into a thin collar. prominent bourbon sting on the nose with chocolate, tobacco, a spicy nuttiness and some oak. bitter chocolate and bourbon on the tongue followed by oak and a hint of cigar smoke. full mouthfeel with a lively, drinkable carbonation. definitely not over carbed as it sits on the tongue oily, thick and creamy. damn fine barrel-aged imperial stout.

Pouring a little more viscously black than its pink waxed sister, yet also building a head that retains a touch longer, it's got an attractive look. Its dark mocha blanket fizzles out to sparse film and flat collar that continues to be active throughout.

Smell is sharper, hotter, and more acidic than the Buffalo Trace V3.

On the palate, the cask presence is a little sharper of numbing whiskey and splintery oak, but the bump in carbonation gives the body a forgivingly mitigating softness. The exhale is nuttier at first, but the chewy finish also brings up more espresso-like acids, but also a little softening tobacco. Coffee liqueur and a little dark fruit emerge as it warms.

While a little less viscous, the additional carbonation makes for a fluffier medium body that contrastingly comes to a slightly drier finish than the Buffalo Trace version.
