Created by Bas and Hildegard van Ostaden. Hildegard physically developed and brewed their beers. Currently brewed at La Trappe, by the people from La Trappe / Koningshoeven, and distributed by Bavaria. Hildegard and Bas now operate a brewpub called Microbrouwerij Urthel / De Hoppeschuur in Ruiselde, West Flanders, Belgium.
Since 2007, Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven B.V. brewed the Urthel beers. Since 2012, Swinkels Family Brewery (formerly Bavaria) owns Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven B.V. and owns the Urthel brands. Since 2017, the beers are brewed at Palm.
