The last of my reviews on out of date beers from this brewery. Again I am not sure if the style I have chosen is in fact correct.
All 3 of their beers are 5.2%.
Brown flip-top half litre bottle should have been drank before 20th Aug 2007, it was drunk today, 12th Sept 2007.
Poured into my old half litre Schultheiss glass from Berlin.
Great ruby red colour, the huge head of biege bubbles was so large I couldn't get all the beer into my glass. The beer was not cloudy by any means but it wasn't crystal clear either.
The aroma was of half burnt chocolate malts and yeast.
It tastes like an Dusseldorfer Alt more than a lager to me, the label gives no hint. I like it, whatever the true style is. The burntness in the aroma isn't in the taste, dry caramel without the sweetness is what I pick up.
The mouthfeel is good, the beer and mouth goes dry, then more dry as you make your body wait for the next mouthful.
A very nice beer, this little brewery will be getting another visit from me.
