A fine winter warmer in the UK sense. Not perhaps as flavorful as a US Christmas Ale such at that of Anchor Steam. Poured from a 500ml

Brown chestnut mahogany colour with a pinky sized off-white head that reduces to a thin lacing after a few minutes.
Some dark roasted malts and quite a rich aroma to this one. Some dark but subdued fruits and a little touch of hops feature as well by the malts make up the most of the nose. I also detected a little butterscotch right at the end.
Like the smell there is some dark roasted malts upfront along with a dark chocolate taste and a rich spicy flavour through the middle. There is also a light touch of fruit but this is hard to detect and butterscotch.
Medium bodied, fairly smooth and with a creamy feel to it helped by the low carbonation levels and a warming aftertaste.
Quite a nice beer and although not my favourite style of beer this one made for a pleasant drink on Christmas day sitting on the couch watching some television.
