Poured a cloudy orange body with a thin cap of foamy white head. Overall impression of appearance is of a nice saison, true to form. Scents of spicy Belgian yeast with moderate notes of white pepper and clove, juicy citrus, with notes of orange, lime and faint lemon, light floral hop aromatics and a light, delicate soft malt presence. Overall impression of aroma is of a bright, fruity saison, one that combines he citrus heavy esters of the style with the addition of citrus fruit quite well, and balances it with a moderate amount of phenols. Flavor begins lightly sweet with a pleasant tartness and notes of orange and lemon zest and a hint of lime, along with bright citrus flesh, a medium-light phenol presence contributing notes of white pepper and a spicy Belgian yeast character. Middle begins to grow dry with a moderate presence of spicy phenolic flavors, again dominated by pepper but with hints of clove and a continued citrus fruitiness with a higher level of lime than the start. Of is is dry with a pleasant tartness and notes of citrus zest, light lemon and lime, phenols with a white pepper character and notes of herbal and floral continental hops at medium-light levels. Aftertaste is dry with notes of white pepper, clove and herbal/floral hops. Overall impression of flavor is of a rather nice, if basic saison. It hits the typical example of an American-brewed saison well, but does not stand out for the style. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high, effervescent carbonation and a drying feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good saison, no complaints. Overall this is a fairly good saison. It fits an American saison quite well and manages to have enough lemon and lime character to make their presence known. Not bad.
