Brauerei Neder "Schwarze Anna"

Notes: Clear mahogany brown beneath a full head of rocky khaki colored foam that dwindles quickly. Average head retention and lacing. The aroma is buttery, but not overtly so, and that returns in the flavor along with notes of golden caramel, darker carmel, nuts, and grassy and lightly herbal hops. A median bitterness balances it. It finishes dry and spicy with the malt fading quickly. Medium to light-medium in body and creamy smooth.

Pours dark brown with a small, bubbly beige head.

Smells of sweet wheat, toasted grains and a profound layer of toffee.

Drinks easy and refreshing with a lively, well nuanced carbonation becoming the most apparent in the finish.

Tastes of smoky toffee, bakers chocolate and caramel wheat cookie. Offers a note of rock sugar then among a stony carbonation and lighter grains. Finishes soft, aqueous with just a noteable malt sweetness maintaining.

This is quite one dimensional and predictable. That being said its malty foundation is well done, but missing depth and versatility.

De Landbierparadies. En vaso hefe de Bavaria. Viendo El Hombre en el Castillo 2x09. Tipico perfil schwarz. Quizas al principio pueda parexer mas aguada e insipida de la cuenta, pero conforme se calienta mejora bastante y hasta se termina quedando corta

A 0.5l mug of this was enjoyed at Hutt'N in Nürnberg on 25SEP10. Cost was €2.60.

Poured a deep, dark mahognay, with attractive glimmers near the edge of the glass. Had a light creamy, tan head which ebbed quite slowly, leaving good stick behind. A light aroma of malty, dark choco wafts forth, with light hopping in arears. It was fairly smooth on the tongue, medium bodied, with a light airiness.

Light sweetness first hits the palate, with some choco and coffee next joining forces. Subtle bitterness is present, but is never a detraction. A suggestion of hop spiciness is prsent in the flavorful finish. Solid, all around!

Prosit!

Rusty brown in colour with a thick, lasting tan head and some good lace.

The nose is very doughy and grainy (like rye bread) and lightly toasted. A bit dry too, but also sweet in a fruity (prune) sense and nutty. Hoppiness is mild and flowery. Yeast seems to be a main factor as well.

A malty palate, less sweet and than I expected, and somewhat dry and salty. Some hops noticeable towards the finish. Roasty tones in the finish and some sour fruitiness in the back.

This beer drinks rather easy and has a smooth feel to it, but is also lacking somewhat in carbonation and therefore not so lively.

A pretty decent beer, maybe a little simple, but definitely enjoyable.
