12 oz. can, one of a dozen different delights sent by the CANquistador, woodychandler, a few weeks back. Cracked/glugged to a pint glass after some yardwork; watching the second half of the Civil War (Oregon/Oregon State) football game. Quite a journey for this little can: Mexico ---> Illinois ---> Pennsylvania ---> Oregon.
A: Pale, straw/golden, very clear. Ample carbonation speedily rises. Starts with a fizzy 1/2 finger of white fluff, one that dissolves quickly to a scant skim and ring. An oily sheen holds a few flecks of 'lace' clings on the walls of the glass. In the end, it looks like cider.
S: Moderate strength. Cereal/corny sweetness and honey, although Saaz hops lend a little grass and dry spice.
T: Light honey/baked bread maltiness, tempered sweetness. Starchy biscuits, a dusting of spice (a little peppery???), and a metallic tang. Pretty good balance, a subtle layering of sweetness and bitterness. Not too bad, actually.
M: Thin body (not a surprise), crispness is tame, slickness pronounced. Has an unpleasant gummy/starchy quality in the finish.
O: It's a pretty benign version of 'light' (low calorie) beer, but not offensive at all (for the style). A bit more flavorful than any other example of this style I can recall trying, a satisfying bitterness in the finish. Whether it's 'light' or not is inconsequential.

This beer comes by way of the creator of the canquest, woodychandler. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a very pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is malty, some grains. Taste is mild, malts, slightly sweet, a bit of grain. Feels light in the mouth and overall, while nothing special, this has more flavor and body than most light beers.

Light cerveza in a LATA, that's just how The CANQuest (TM) likes it! I found this during my recent visit to Binny's (South Side Loop) and if anyone would like one, let me know!
De la LATA: "Imported Craft Beer/Cerveza Artesenal"; "Low Calorie since 1998/Baja en Calorias desde 1998"; "Our original PILSNER style light is craft brewed by Sierra Madre Brewin Co. in Monterrey, Mexico. In strict adherence to the German Purity Laws of 1516 (the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot)."; "Only four ingredients were used [:] Water, Saaz Hops, Pale Malted Barley and our proprietary Lager Yeast. No other adjuncts or conservatives were used to brew this LOW CALORIE beer."; "We hope you enjoy this beer as much as we did brewing it."
I utilized the Crack and inverted Glug for maximum head creation and it worked! I was looking at easily over two fingers of dense, bone-white head with unexpectedly good retention. CAN you believe it? Color was a pale lemon-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was lightly malty, but clean, apparently adjunct-free. Mouthfeel was medium with a light biscuit-malt flavor on the tongue. Finish was semi-dry and very pleasant on a warm summer afternoon. I would not want a steady diet, but of the many, many light lagers that are out there, this one might be the way to go.

3.8% alc, 110 calories, saaz hops, 100% barley. 12 oz can.
It pours a light pale gold with a fizzy white head that quickly dissipates with no lacing.
It smells like honey and some water. Not great but miles ahead of most light lagers.
The flavor is kind of crappy, just a tangy mexican styled beer that tastes cheapened.

Reviewed a 12 oz. can, this is pretty straightforward mexican beer, but thanks to the can, no skunky funk going on.
A touch of sweetness from what I taste as adjuncts, though the packaging claims Saaz hops-I don't know about that one.
I could definitely drink these while floating down the river(face up of course), but we think it's peculiar that they have white writing on a silver can, so definitely try to read about it before the third one or later.
Not bad, not life-altering.
