Opted for a tulip for this one, due to the ABV, I figured this was an imperial black IPA.
The appearance was a semi-dark brown color almost black with a small off white foamy head. Mellow stringy lace.
The aroma had some floral to citrusy notes, light milk chocolate, some roasted malts, subtle coffee beans and a light dried anise sort of sweetness.
The flavor leaned into the floral sort of hoppiness, not too bitter but had an amplified roasty to chalky chocolate sort of character about it. Touch of nuttiness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. That chalky sort of dryness seemed to impart just a touch of distraction to my tongue.
Overall, I didn't mind this one for me, but definitely needed some water after this one.

"Sabbath Black IPA" ... not Black Sabbath.

Rather boring. Bottle is more interesting than the beer.

Pours pitch black with a big fluffy light brown head that coats the glass the entire way down.
Smell is chocolate malt, lots of pine and resin, herbal, not alot of roast, most just a wet chocolatey IPA style. The flavor is alot more chocolate, roasted oats, resin and earthy pine, a little coffee. This is much more like an IPA, but the mouthfeel is thick and velvet. It coats your mouth and drinks very heavy, more like a porter.
This is good, but a bit confusing. Nothing wrong with that, but it jumps all over the place style wise.
