An India pale ale celebrating “Ménage À VA,” that is, a meeting of Virginia breweries from three corners of the Commonwealth. Friends from O’Connor Brewing Co. and Fair Winds Brewing Co. joined us in crafting a special IPA featuring lupulin powder, an oil-rich dust, derived from Ekuanot, Cascade, and Simcoe hops. Huge tropical fruit notes nicely complement the citrus flavors of the hop powder. The beer will be released at Craft Brewers’ Conference 2017 in Washington, D.C.

This was a clean and crisp IPA with a nice citrus and tropical scent and taste. It was not the most bold brew, but it was above average for the style.

On tap:
Pours on the brown side of golden, but with a decent head that is fed visibly by a constant carbonation stream. Thick collar provides a sheet on the far wall of the glass as it's tipped for a sip, but the wall recedes in slo-mo to the beer.
Nose is a little citrusy floral, not very powerful. There's a little maltiness to it - with maybe a hint of honey.
Taste is also lightly malty, but quite nice, actually. It's a soft light sweetness, and the feel of the beer is relatively smooth throughout. Like the nose there is a citrus floral note to the taste. The bitterness is light, but there's a berry-with-stem like bitterness in the back and underneath. Over time I noticed a small bit of dry/spice action on my palate.
Usually don't expect tongue-rippers from Starr Hill, and even though this is a collaboration, this stays true to that. This still has an APA vibe to it overall, and a very tasty one. It has a certain softness without haze, and a subtle bitterness.
