Double chocolate stout. Bittersweet aromas arise from cocoa additions while marshmallow and chocolate notes lead to a smooth finish.

Pours dark as any chocolate stout, with a medium head which lingers for a while. Nose is mildly chocolate. Taste is bold dark chocolate with a tempered and well-balanced sweetness, which I liked. The finish is marginally bitter. Feel is very smooth, like a boozy creamy dark chocolate.

Poured from bottle into a glass. Nice dark color. Marshmallow taste was there, but not too strong (which is good as far as I'm concerned). Sweet but not too sweet.

From a bottle. Pour has a dense 1/2" tan foam head with a very dark brown body. Scent-wise has a strong cocoa base with subtle hints of marshmallow. Taste follows, with the cocoa base providing most of a bitter chocolate flavor with marshmallow peeking through at times to mellow it a bit. Feel is medium bodied and smooth, with a very pleasant finish. Not as much of a fan of this flavor profile compared to other box of chocolate beers, but if you prefer a subtler sweet marshmallow flavor rather than some of the more bombastic flavors in the other bottles, this could be a good fit!
2021-2022 Update: This years marshmallow is much stronger than the prior year's offering (reviewed above). The marshmallow flavor comes across more cleanly on the nose (+.25), taste (+.5), and feel is smoother (+.25) leading to an overall increase in quality (+.25). Strongly recommend this year's offering if you can snag it!
