PKG ON: JAN 06 23. Poured into a BA teku - hell yeah!

A: Barely hazy amber with tall 2-finger off-white frothy head with good retention and ample lacing.

S: Mostly oxidized malt and softer citrus fruit with mild esters.

T: Flavor is also oxidized caramel malt flavor up front which leaves candied orange slice hop flavor and low esters with noticeable but not overbearing alcohol punch.

M: The feel is more like a WCDIPA rather than a hazy (as on the label) with medium body and dry finish.

O: I am not really sure what Starr Hill was after but this beer may be great on tap but it is really a poor hazy IIPA in the can. Oxidized and not even close to the hazy IPA profile - way off.

From a can into a pint glass. Pour has an impressive and long lasting 1"+ head of off-white foam with an amber-orange body that has mild particulate present. On the nose is a citrus hop profile (orange most obvious + mango/guava) with a touch of hoppy spice and notes of the high ABV and a pinch of caramel (or other similar malt sweetness). Taste is a fascinating combination with the citrus, high ABV, and malty sweetness all playing a role in moderating the flavor profile from being too extreme in any one direction. Most dominant notes are orange and alcohol, but the caramel seems to be right behind it. Feel is hefty, smooth, bordering on creamy with an orange hop dripped in alcohol aftertaste. Overall a very interesting offering.
