Who doesn't love it?
Combined with cinnamon and cream, that's guaranteed to be a winner and that was the case with this festive offering.
Found this at Kroger in Lexington, Virginia last month as it was an unexpected surprise. Copper in hue with loads of fine sediment in it, this as an alluring beer from the get-go as it had plenty of foam topping it off. Thick rings of lacing were left behind as each rocky layer bled down into the next. A ton of eggnog and cinnamon were in the spicy nose as the aroma easily carried over into the taste. Thick, nuanced, and inviting, the nutmeg and vanilla were easily felt once this fully warmed up. Plenty of milk and booze were to be had here as well, as this was plenty filling and potent, down to the last sip.
While this was a Cream Ale, this came across as an Imperial Cream Ale, should one actually exist. Yes it was that strong and pulled no punches, but it was completely fitting for the holiday season. Canned on 9/30 with "HOLIDAY ROAD" written above it, this was not like anything I've ever had during the Christmas season but was still totally fitting for it - down to the wrapping paper label. If you want a beer full of spice, subtle lactose, and subtle sweetness, reach for this and fire up the yule log while you're at it- there's nothing else like this on your retailer's shelf!
