Had this in Bangor, starts black with a thick tan head. The aroma is full of roasted malt and cocoa. The taste starts sweet with a smooth mouth feel. It becomes and stays roasted in the aftertaste. The roasted flavor isn't overwhelming making it a easy drinking stout.

Had on tap in Hull

Appearance: black in color, minimal head

Smell: roasted malt

Taste: roasted malt, caramel, and a touch of chocolate and coffee at the end

Mouthfeel: sweet, light bodied without being watery, and low carbonation

Drinkability: Super drinkable. Could easily have a six. One of SeaDog's tastier non-fruit beers. I love the nice, light, and flavorful tastes here.

A- Dark brown with a minimal light brown head

S- Malty cocoa and other than that a minimal nose

T- Nice full-flavor. Great toasty malts belly under the entire time. Chocolate and coffee as to be expected. I am most impressed with the fullness of flavor

M- Light and watery fro the style and little to no carbonation

D- Very easy to drink with the fullness of flavor but odd with the lack of carbonation and watery feel

Poured from the cask into a pint glass at pub in Topsham ME.

Appearance is a classic black with tab bubbles, not much more I can say about that.

Bouquet is pretty interesting but a faint roast of pan gravy.

Taste however translates the bouquet into a carbon burnt gravy roast, and unfortunate tree bark. Even for an Irish stout this one is very watery, but the carbon gravy tinges are kind of interesting and addictive.

Poured on draft at the brewery.

Pours a dark cola brown color with a finger of creamy off-white head. The head has good retention and leaves a ton of sticky lacing.

The aroma brings notes of dark roasted malts, with some very faint hints of chocolate.

The flavor brings forward plenty of roasted malts, caramel, vanilla, and subtle chocolate. Very roasted throughout. Sweet, but nicely balanced.

The feel is medium bodied with moderately light carbonation. Smooth and highly drinkable. Nicely dry on the finish.

Overall, a pretty good stout that brings very little aroma but more than makes up for in taste and feel. A nice, straightforward stout with no strings attached.

Tap at brewpub in northborough.

Creamy nitro like 1/2 finger head very light waterfall, sticks around forever, pitch black beer.

Nose has creaminess and plenty of nitro aromas, light stout like roasted malts, bit of beefy dark malts, hint of chocolate, lots of oats.

Taste starts with lots of oats again, creamy, milk chocolate, chocolate oatmeal, nitro creamy taste, light chewy, some dark malts but light body overall, nice bitterness from a touch of hops but more roasty malts and hint of brine. Finishes a bit salty still, some darker malts fade quickly and some bitterness lingers.

Mouth is lighter bodied despite being so creamy, small bubbled but decent carb.

Overall not bad just way too light, would be much better had they added more overall malts, and as I usually feel the nitro really just overpowers all the other tastes and aromas in the beer and mutes it too much.

Poured on-tap at the Sea Dog in South Portland, the beer was served in a pint glass. The beer is jet black, with a thick, creamy beige head that looks super-dense. Smokey coffee nose, with a campfire character. Great cling while you drink. The coffee flavors are abundant, with a roasty, smoked character that is delicious. The aftertaste is roasted and creamy, with a little bit of chocolate. Creamy, smooth finish, this brew is very tasty.

At the Topsham location:

After my palate was cleaned from the pumpkin ale I had before this, I wanted to give something else a try. Here goes:

In a pint glass:

A: light one finger off-white/tan head that concaves itself into the dark brown body after about a minute. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen, and a nice light foamy lacing is left around the sides of the glass.

S: chocolate and coffee malts of any Irish Dry stout with a bit of oats in the background.

T: pretty much exactly the same combination of the previously stated aromas

M: light and leaving a great creamy feel making me wanting more. There is nothing harsh on my tongue. I would say this is a very drinkable beer.

O: it might be a lighter stout, but this is a decent beer to have again. It could be a bit too light for an Irish dry, but definitely better than the beer I had before this.

The beer pours a pitch black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a dry, roasted scent along with a sweet and creamy chocolate aroma. The taste is great! It has a smooth and rich, chocolate malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes with a nice dry, roasted malt character. The taste is well rounded and balanced; very enjoyable. The mouthfeel is exceptional. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good stout. The chocolate malts compliment the underlying black/roasted malt foundation.

Had at the new South Portland location on 5/22/09
This beer poured a deep brown almost black. Nice frothy tan head which retained VERY well. Thick sheets of lacing left on the glass. Nose was slightly muted but well balanced of roasted malts, coffee, and some caramel. Taste begins with notes of chocolate but quickly turn to roasted malts and coffee - leaves quite a bitter coffee aftertaste. Mouthfeel is quite a light body for a darker beer, but makes this a highly sessionable beer. Also, light on carbonation. This is a good beer to sit with for a session.
