On the hopper side of the saison spectrum.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. A decent saison, nothing exceptional, nice drinking.. A nice bitterness is the distinction, more so than I would expect for the saison. Yeast takes a secondary role, not much noticed in the spice department. Soft mouthfeel. Lacey.

A: Nice dirty orange colour with a thin bubbly blanket on top. Looks well carbonated. Lacing sticks well to glass.
S: Quite spicy with a dominant belgian yeast aroma. Cloves and pepper aromas.
T: Pleasant bitter & spicy taste with cloves and some slight peppery notes. Lots of earthy/grassy tones in this too. Picking up a bit of lingering sourness. All-in-all quite well balanced saison.
M: Medium mouthfeel with about average carbonation. Suits the style.
D: Will be ordering this again in the future- maybe even another tonight! Good saison that's certainly worth a try.

Had this one while sitting at the bar. Hazy orange with plenty of fine, whitish lace. Great head retention. The aroma was heavy on phenols and cloves, with plenty of fruity esters and slightly sour wheat character as well. It was a bit grassy and there was some cereal grain in there too. The flavour was more of the same, but with a bit of lemon zest and lingering bitterness in the finish. Light bodied with average carbonation, slight dryness, nice texture overall. Good stuff. A treat after driving up from Boston earlier in the day.
