Five year old bottle poured at fridge temp (and allowed to warm for a while). Pours motor oil black with light brown head that dissipates fairly quickly. The nose is amazing. Black licorice, bourbon, oak, figs, prunes, dark chocolate, slight coffee, vanilla, molasses, and some toffee.
The taste is fantastic. This is where the big roasted malts appears. A bit of charred wood, but lots of sweet bourbon, toffee, baking chocolate, black licorice, figs, molasses, fudge, vanilla, and some lingering smoke. This is rich and incredibly complex.
Mouthfeel is thick and viscous. The aftertaste is a mix of bitter roasted malts and barrel. The alcohol (13.5%) is not overpowering. It is detectable. Very nice beer overall.

650ml bottle, purple wax, 2017 bottling, poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. Enjoyed on 12.10.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a jet black color, thick and inky, nice viscosity with a firm half finger of khaki head that yields spots of lace. The aroma is pleasant, tons of barrel heat, strong oak, smooth chocolate, light vanilla and dark stone fruits with smooth roasted grain. The flavors are good, big barrel character, lots of warm bourbon, spice, toffee and oak, charred wood, roasted grain, bittersweet chocolate with light stone fruits lingering underneath the grains and chocolate. The mouthfeel is good, coating and creamy medium body, not super heavy but smooth and gentle with a warm finish.
Verdict: A very nice barrel aged stout from Port/Lost Abbey. Not the most dynamic beer or the most complex, most of the nuances are blurred by the heavy barrel character, but this still hits the spot in many ways. Worthy of a fine celebration at Churchill's.
