Pours clear, dark brown in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is milk chocolate, Tootsie Roll and a touch of peat. Light bodied, sweet with low carbonation. Above average straightforward porter. Nice beer to sit. Wouldn't rush out to get again but solid.

Best before 9/9/2018. Poured from a swing-top bottle into my Ayinger Celebrator pokal.
Clear burnt umber body with burnt sienna highlights and a lasting finger of beige foam. Soft soapy lacing; excellent retention.
Malty aroma with hints of toasted nuts and a faint metallic note.
Drab bready palate entry with some dusty/grassy hop notes - very mild bitterness emerges in the finish. Malt dominates the profile, but is itself surprisingly restrained.
Light-bodied, slightly creamy, and well carbonated. Vaguely tannic with a hint of minerality.
Difficult to rate as I'm unclear on what style this falls under (somewhere between a Euro dark lager and a Munich dunkel?) - the Austrian/Bavarian influence is clear, but the execution is perfunctory. Not a bad table beer really, but best served with a meal (e.g. smoked sprats, cucumber, tomato, rye bread, etc.).

11% Plato. Meh dunkel in a swingtop bottle.
