Pours a copper, diaphanous ale with a sheet of off white foam. Light molasses and tea like malts with a hint of earthy hops on the nose - pretty spot on for ESB IMO. The malts are a little oxidized, but not off setting. There is a good herbal quality to the hops and a slight plastic and sharpness to the malt - almost as though the mash was an overnight mash. Body is medium on full and carb is hi as anticipated with a semi dry finish. This is a decent ESB. I always forget how exceptionally forgettable ESB's are and that the most beautiful thing about them is their subtly, like 007.

22oz bottle provided by a local bar as a gift, a sample from the distributor. Poured into a tulip (by Gwen, I know I'm in trouble when she's being extra nice to me). Poured a semi-hazy orangeish-amber color with just under a half-inch of white head that average retention and lacing.

The aroma was a nice balance of grainy malts and smooth hops. Neither dominated, although the hops were a bit more forward. On the tongue the was equally as balanced. Most of the tongue got smooth malts and the back of the tongue got the hops. There was a bit of a lingering citrusy hop finish.

The body was very nicely full and smooth without being heavy or sticky. Drinkability was very good indeed, this is the kind of smooth, easy to drink beer that you could drink all day at a cookout or while watching the game. Overall, a very nice, though not exciting beer. This easy drinker is worth trying when you see it.

First off, I've never had an ESB before so I don't really have anything to compare this to. A little malty, some dark fruits in the taste and just a slight bitterness. Pours a light brown, decent carbonation. Easy to drink, I guess, but not much else. Not something I'd have again.

A: - This brewski pours a slightly foggy, light brown brew with a 1 inch head that lingers for a few sips. Good lacing that seems to stick around the glass for its entirety.

S: - Not a whole lot however the smell of citrus and estery hops is present. Not much of a malt character present. Need to smell hard to come up with anything.

T: - Decent malt flavor with bittering hops present that kicks in. Slightly bready. Not a lot of flavor overall.

M: - Watery! Well balanced beer though. Refreshing. For sure a light body beer.

D: - Smooth flowing. Very drinkable. Good session beer. I could see myself pounding these at some point. Just not a "wow" beer by any stretch.

I'd have it again for sure. Will I add it to my weekly "pick ups" at the local beer store- NO! Just one of those you never think twice about. Won't go wrong though if you pick one up.

pours a semi-hazy with a small off-white head, lots of sediment, and okay lacing.

smell is faint, a few hops, a touch of citrus, and earthy.

taste is of light grapefruit, some sour malt, fresh hops, and a touch citrus, ends a little dry and bitter.

On tap at Harmon
Poured a nice deep amber with a small white head. Nose is slightly bitter with a spice to it with earthy undertones. Taste much like it smells. Bitter in a sense but also very one dimensional. Drinkability is ok and the ABV is low so this could be a great session beer.

Sampled at the Harmon Brewery. This one was a little clearer than the Pinnacle Peak Pale but still had some haziness to go along with a darker orange color. It has mild bitterness with some citrus/grapefruit and a little spice, with a mild malty finish.

This ESB was served in a standard pint. The beer is a clear bronze with an off-white head. Ok lacing.

Nose of grains, some light hops add a touch of floral and citrus notes and unfortunately some dirty beer line funk.
Taste tracks the smell. Nice combo of sweet malts and mildly bitter hops. The funk makes a comeback 1/2 way through the beer :(

The mouth has nice low carbonation but is a trifle brittle. Not a session beer for me. Perhaps an off-batch?

Pint consumed for $4 at the Porterhouse Pub in Mount Vernon.

This was a copper color with an inch of white foam. Decent amount of lace.

This was mostly malty in the nose, with a mild, floral hop scent. The malts are not over the top sweet, but just right, giving a slightly caramel scent to theproceedings.

Like the smell, the taste of this beer is geared more toward the malty end of the spectrum. It's not a sugary malt bomb, however. There's a little bit of a hop twang, but this is the malt's show.

Medium bodied, with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. There wasn't any flatness issues like the ones I see mentioned in some of the other reviews.

A very sessionable beer, I could easily see myself partaking in the consumption of a pitcher of this.

Hazy light orange, off white collar. I like the color, but like all of their beers it's on the flat side.

Nose is floral hops and slight fruit, fragrant and inviting.

The taste is really nice, fruity, fresh and floral, rich but not thick. A nice, bready sweetness to the malt, really very little trace of hop bitters. This one was to enjoyable to waste much time trying to break down.

Medium mouthfeel, a nice crispness but some creaminess as well.

Man, I love a good ESB, and this was really fantastic. I'm really loving the masterful level with which Harmon crafts these classic ales. This one goes down like butter, and I'm fortunate to enjoy it on this fine evening.

Served from cask into pint glass.

Appearance - A light brown with slight cloudiness. Classic cask head initially then goes away after a few sips. Good lacing on top third of glass than looses lacing past that point.

Aroma - This 'Fresh Hop' beer does not have much aroma. Hops or malt.

Taste - Good rounded malt flavor with bittering hops present. Not a lot of flavor overall.

Mouthfeel - pleasant viscosity. Watery (not in a bad way. In a good thirst quenching way).

Drinkability - Smooth flowing. Very drinkable. Good session beer.

Picked up a 24oz at the local bottle shoppe.

This is a very good ESB. I never like to admit that the local brewery might brew as good of beer of the same style but I might just have to. Boundery Bay ESB is one of my favorite beers. This one might be if it where availible on tap around here. That said I think it will be a while before I try another one I need to have several esbs to compare.

The after taste keeps you wanting more of this beer.
