I had this beer on-tap in a snifter at WABL Belgianfest 2015.
Appearance: a nice dark orange hue with plenty of haze and a thin layer of ivory foam. Quite attractive!
Smell: quite woody right up front; big vanilla and oak take everything over. Other than the wood, though, it's not especially complex.
Taste: sweet, with a nice tripel-type maltiness and a light but enjoyable fruitiness. The oak, again, is huge, and melds with the flavor quite a bit better than in the aroma -- love it!
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a great carbonation and a fantastic creaminess. This beer just keeps getting better!
Overall: oak-aged tripel is a combination that just works extremely well for me. I am normally not a giant fan of Tripel 7 but this version marries brilliantly to the barrel. Wonderful.
