Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is brewed in the Grodziskie style. Grodziskie, or more commonly called Grätzer, originated in Poland and is a sessionable ale brewed with 100% smoked wheat malt, has a firm hop bitterness, and (depending on who you talk to) is slightly sour.

Greenish yellow color with lots of haze. Good starting head but it settles quickly to rim bubbles. Some brief spots after each sip.
Strong smoke smell to an otherwise pale malted ale.
The taste is even more smoky than the smell, but unlike most in this style, the smoke is mellow without the harsh, biting burnt wood flavor. Thinnish body which is eventuated by the higher carbonation.
Overall, this definitely one of the better (read, more subtle) smoked beers.
