This was either your favorite or just another mediocre brew among the friends at the table. A very slight golden color, some hazing, Thin white head that faded quickly. The nose was week but bits of honey and malt came through. I'll say it was very complex on the tongue but nothing really stood out at me as very good. It hit the tongue with certain honey and malt. Across the tongue was good acidity and ginger tones. Finished with some decent hop & more honey. OK feel and OK drinkability. Just not something I'd want multiple pints of.

On tap at the brewery on 06.30.2007; listed at 5.5% abv.
Served in a tulip.

Full copper in color with a minor trace of a creamy, white sheet. Sweet honey, mild vanilla, and cream in aroma along with a distinct ginger spice; touches of pine as well. The flavor begins sweet from the honey with light cream. Surprisingly, the gingered spiciness comes to the forefront without disrupting the sweetness and ends almost crisp. A light, medium in body; crisp, mellow, and refreshing. I wouldn't mind having this offering from time to time to break up the monotony of summer hefe's, but having more than one in a sitting is just too sweet for my tastebuds.

14.5oz chalice

A - It was an orange color with a white, one-finger head. No lace.

S - It smelled of malt and ginger.

T - The overwhelming taste was ginger. The malt was sweet and light.

M - It was crisp and smooth. A light-bodied beer.

D - Too much ginger tasted for me. If it was toned down a little it could be very good.

Pours a muted tan/amber body with a small white head.

Nose is the name. Sharp ginger with mild honey notes.

Taste is along the same lines. Light to medium bodied. Ginger and honey balanced perfectly against a light mild malt backdrop. The ginger flavor is very much a sharp, spicy, ginger-beer flavor (the soda, not actual beer). The honey touch just floats in the background against the ginger giving a mild sweetness while balancing out the ginger. There’s definitely a mild bitterness that balances out this beer, not sure if it’s hops though or something else.

Reminded me a lot of a mellower heather ale with ginger and honey. A very yummy and unique beer. Needs a good food to be paired with, not sure what just yet, but a definite must try.

Pours a dark orange/amber topped with a thin white head, left thin partial rings of lacing.
Sweet aroma, nothing much besides honey and ginger.
Ginger filled taste, bit of a spicy bite at first but mostly sweet. Light toasted malt, medicinal note.
Ginger grows stronger and spicier in the aftertaste, cuts down on the drinkability.
Medium bodied

Had on tap at CBC. Pour was light golden in color, with honey and ginger present in the aroma. I thought the beer was smooth and easy to drink, mostly biscuity malts in the fore with a lingering honey aftertaste. Pleasant beer, but not one I would need to have again soon.

The idea of a honey ginger ale looks good on paper, but it didn't seem to carry through well in the execution. The golden ale had a pleasant, slightly hazy appearance, with some modest head formation. The understated ginger aroma wasn't bad but didn't grab me - perhaps, I'm too fond of ginger. The mild flavors offered honey and ginger notes with hints of grain and perhaps a dashed dream of hops. The ale reminded me of a less laughable variant of a Tommy Knocker beer. I'm still convinced that Will Meyers is a genius, but I wouldn't use this light and mild beer to make my case.

Sampled on tap at Anam Cara.

This ale poured a cloudy, golden color with white foam that settled. The smell was of light honey and malt with a bit of grain and a light hint of ginger. The taste was dry and malty with only very light notes of honey and ginger. The flavor reminded me of CBC's heather ale (not sure why). Not much hops to speak of. The mouthfeel was smooth with medium body and medium carbonation, and there was an every so light herbal or spicy feel. This was a nice ale.

A pretty litttle golden ale with a white head. Fresh ginger scent. The ginger mingles with cidery honey. It reminds me of the ginger mead I brewed years ago, only this is much better. By which I mean I can actually drink this and it's inspiring me to try again. I don't care for the medicinal finish. Maybe it could be aged a little more?
