Our famous Scotch Ale is back in barrel-aged form, just in time for the cool but welcoming Spring weather. This strong ale style comes directly from Scotland, an ancestral recipe from the Clan of Bannatyne boasting a huge, complex malt character and very full body, which finishes with an herbal, hoppy dryness. We craft this traditionally big, malty beer from a grist of imported English and Scottish pale malt (see, they can get along!) and a touch of roasted barley.Extended aging in second-use Woodford’s Reserve barrels offers just a touch of spirit and oak character. Cheers!

Stopped by today with Alewife to CBC, after an long hiatus... been too long! Had a couple of 12oz pours of this one, at $7.00 per...
Served in a small tulip, it was a deep, ark, nearly opaque chestnut color. Had a thin (too thin), wispy, light tan head, with decent lacing. Aroma had lots of malt, and brown sugar, plus a little bourbon. Body was a solid mediu-plus, with a smooth feel.
Taste had more sweetness, though was never cloying. Had great caramel malt, with caramelized brown sugar and a hint of peaty smoke. The bourbon notes are subtle though easily discerned. This one is rich and warming... Prosit!!!
