Very light haze to the golden color. Modest head but it continually leaves streaks and spots for lace.
The smell is spot on from what I remember in Cologne—pale malt with a touch of the brewery floor thrown in (in a good way). A touch maltose sweetness. Very authentic.
The taste hits all the right notes as well. There’s a slightly sour element but otherwise it’s all pale, flowery malt. Highly carbonated with a thinner body. The finish is short and bready with some faint yeast. True to its name, this is the closest Kölsch made in America to the originals in Germany.
