This is described by the CBC as, “carrot cake with fresh carrots and spices.” The server tells me it is “just like a pumpkin ale but instead with carrots.” He further let me know it is definitely not a winter warmer (today is 12/30/22) nor a spiced beer. Thus, I placed it in the Pumpkin category.
Darker amber/light brown and hazy. No head. No lace.
The smell is sweet with a carrot cake (as advertised) aroma. Bready with cinnamon and bitter cream frosting.
More frosting and cinnamon laden carrot cake on the tongue. This is very much a rich dessert beer. The carbonation cuts into the sweetness to provide a small amount of balance. The finish intensifies the sugar and the carrot cake spices of allspice, nutmeg, and the aforementioned cinnamon. It finishes like light licorice. This is a unique beer worth seeking out.
