Dark gold, nearly amber color. Clear. Minor head that dissipates completely and leaves no lace.
The smell is mild. What I pick up is similar to an Amber Ale. Lots of caramel and crystal malts with little hop bitterness.
Good (higher) carbonation with a neutral body. (This is after tasting several barleywines.) The opening taste it’s lightly toasted malt. Not much flavor associated with winter warmers-no Christmas spices. I more likely to describe this as an Amber Ale.
