Twice poured because of the thick upward cascading head. This lasts throughout the tasting but oddly, the lace slides off the glass. Light amber color and crystal clear.
The smell is all malt: slightly toasted. Slightly soured.
The taste is a bitter flip from the smell. Here, the bread-like malt is brief. The bitterness takes over and dominates but never approaches extremism. The nitrogen creates fine bubbles on the fuller body. Pleasant lingering bitter aftertaste. Overall, very close to expectations for a British pub ale.
