Like a last hurrah before Cambridge Brewing closed for good on December 20, 2024. Here’s a new beer for the autumnal season.
Thrice poured due to the excess foam, the liquid is clear, dirty gold color. The head forms a dome above the rim. The head is thick and foamy throughout the tasting. Interestingly, there’s less lace than expected—a couple of wider streaks and a few minor spots.
Higher toasted aromas almost like brown bread. Attractive without any graininess (nor hop) to the smell.
Full bodied for the style but with enough balancing carbonation to make a superior mouthfeel. The taste mimics the smell with a darker toasted bread taste. One difference is the notable hop bitterness in the swallow. This creates a nice balance that is often missing in this style.
