Dark clear amber body with a small but decent sized off white head.
A nice smooth very clean malty body. Touches of caramel and 2 row malt. Light and very easy drinking. Surprisingly floral with a fresh oak chip taste. Not your typical burnt woody, but more along the lines of what you might find in a chardonnay. A very soft bitterness in an overall very smooth and simple bitter.
A nice session beer, basically one of the best and most drinkable cask beers I’ve ever had.

This is an excellent choice to begin an evening of beer drinking. It has plenty of interesting flavors to enjoy, yet it's mild enough to have another if you so chose, before moving up in strength. It pours a tanned leather with a fast dissipating beige head. A malty aroma is supported by a fresh cut oak smell and hops. Caramel and lightly toasted biscuity malt blend well with tea-like and a slightly metallic bitterness. Lightly sweet and herbal, with just a hint of earthiness and faint touch of limes. Easy drinking ale!

Had this on cask at Redbones...let's just say it should be sampled at the source I think. Had this only last week on tap (not cask) at CBC, and it was pretty good, but on cask at Redbones, maybe it just couldn't handle the trip across town. Dark amber in color, with a perfumy aroma. No head, but did leave lacing in the glass. Basically the unfortunate thing with this pour is that the flavors seemed muted...the malt was muted, the hops tasted faded. Will review again if found on cask at CBC. pat

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Listed as 4.8% ABV on the board.
This bitter poured a hazy, red-amber color with off-white foam that coated the glass as the liquid level dropped. Seemed quite red for a bitter. The smell was a rich malty aroma with notes of caramel. The taste was tangy and malty with notes of caramel. Mildly hoppy. The mouthfeel was smooth and tangy with a sharp and dry finish (the hops could be felt on the tongue in the finish). The body was medium with medium carbonation. Overall this was a nice bitter.

Edging on a ruby colour and donning a creamy lace. Chalk full of malt in the aroma and flavour yet a flexed hoppiness to kick the brew back into balance. Short tones of chocolate and caramel with a toasted grain backing hit the palate to shovel more maltiness in the fire. This one reminds me of the Scottish bitters I quaffed in Edinburgh, the last pint is just as good as the first.

This is one of my favorite styles of beer to have on tap. Light brown in color with a nice head that seemed to last. Nice bitterness in the smell and especially in the taste. I personally thought that this offering was right on. So well balanced and smooth. How I actually got up and left the place was amazing. Caramel, hops and malt all combined for a most wonderful brew.
