Notes / Commercial Description:
In honor of an epic New England storm, a combination of a blizzard and a hurricane--a blizzicane--that dumped several feet of snow and shut the coast for days, we bring you Blizzicane Bock, a dopplebock that's rich, thick and sweet with caramel and toffee flavor conceived in the hoary eye of that storm.

Poured a brown body with copper tints with two finger head that left lace ring down glass. Aroma first hits me with some clove and yeast, a bit of hops, and just hints of caramel/toffee malts. Medium-bodied beer that is smooth thanks to the yeast, has a banana and possible dark fruit taste, hints of spice, especially on finish and there is a slightly sugary sweetness (caramel/toffee/?) in this beer that gives it a sweet edge on finish.

I enjoyed this on draft served in a glass

the color is dark brown with good clarity and thick beige head with fine bead. The aroma is dark toast with some caramel sweetness and dried fruit aroma. The feel is very good with moderately full body and malt is moderately sweet with medium carbonation with mild bitterness in the back and semi-sweet finish.

The taste is very good with a nice amount of malt flavor with a slight dark caramel flavor and mild toasted quality with a slight herbal and spicy hop compliment with low alcohol in the taste and toffee-like smoothness mid palate with a more dry than sweet finish. Overall I really enjoyed this bock very easy to quaff yet plenty of malt complexity and has a nice balance considering it is not overly sweet

A: crystal clear; medium brown in color; 1 finger light khaki head that receded slowly to a wispy cap; sheets of lacing;

S: dark fruit; toast; a little chocolate;

T: dark fruit up front; a little chocolate comes in at the middle; finish is dark fruit again; virtually no bitterness;

M: medium to full bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish; ABV is very well hidden;

O: as always from Sierra Nevada, a great representation of the style;

On tap at Slater's 50/50 on 02/18/16.
Dark golden brown. Khaki head. Toffee and vague nut aromas. Caramel, toffee and nuts with a subtle bitter hop finish. Good stuff.

It pours a clear dark brown but when held up to the light, it looks blood red. Smell off white head of foam.

Nose consists of caramel malt, toffee, some nutty notes.

The taste is sweeter than the smell but in a balanced way. Caramel, toffee, some nutty notes with a kind of fruity sweetness in the finish and aftertaste. Delightful.

Medium describes the body and carbonation.

Excellent Doppelbock.

On tap on New Year's Eve in the NC Sierra Nevada Taproom.

Clear red-brown with a very good head that leaves patterned sticky lacing.

Aroma: mild and pleasant with sweet toffee and baked bread.

Flavor: lightly sweet upfront with alcohol esters. A bread-toffee-roasted nuts finish.

Feel Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at Lovin' Cup in Henrietta, NY.

This one pours a caramel brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells richly malty and delicious, caramel, toffee, and dark fruits.

This is a straightforward, well-executed and delicious strong bock for the winter. It's got some great malty sweetness, caramel and toffee, with some light dark fruits and just the slightest bitterness to balance it all out. Not much booze is present at all here.

This is rich and full bodied, with a moderate level of carbonation.

An excellent bock here, par for the course with Sierra Nevada, which seems to nail most everything that they do.

Poured on tap in a tulip, the beer is a ruby tinted caramel coloring, with a halo of clingy, slick, off-white head. Aromas of dark candidate sugar, toffee, old world fruits, and subtle booze. Flavors are heavy old world fruit sweet and rich forward, with date, fig, and apple all up in there. Boozy, brandy-like characteristics, with a building warmth as you go. Big and slick in mouth, with a boozy, slightly bitter hopped aftertaste heavy on the old world fruit sweetness. Finish is slick and warming, with a fruity linger. Big beer.

Grunt from Albertsons. Pours out with a nice fluffy head, dark but clear brown body. Malt rules supreme, mildly sweet with a hint of roast bitterness. Caramel and toffee, slick body, swett lingering tingly finish. Nice!

Thick foamy head. Leaves blanket lace but no chunks. Ruby brown liquid where a bit of light passes.

I detect cinnamon and cotton candy. It's not overly sweet but it reminds me of gum drops or Jujubees. Attractive.

The taste has a strong Crystal malt presence. Sweet but not cloy. Here I get some lavender and anise. Rich with a moderate carbonation. The swallow and aftertaste brings out caramel and toffee.

On tap at BC's Pizza and Beer

Pours the expected deep golden brown, nice and malty on the nose, taste is on point, nice and malty, maybe even a bit nutty, with a little toffee mixed in for good measure, on the heavier side of medium body, but quite smooth. Maybe not a blow you away beer, but a well executed on point beer.

Had tonight at the Bittercreek SN tap takeover... Dark brown brew.. nice clarity... very short lived tannish head.

Nose shows a lighter than expected toasty maltiness.. just hints of melanoidin.

Flavor mirrors the palate.. traditional malt profile, but is definitely on the light side .... nothing too wrong, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Body seems a little light.... carbonation is also a bit high.
