A cup of joe and a bold beer can thwart the winter cold, so we blended them for the ultimate warmer. Our Coffee Stout is a fusion of dark roasted malts and rich, cold-brewed coffee for layers of bittersweet, fruity, dark chocolate and caramel-like flavors.

Part of the Sierra Nevada Winter Seasonal twelve-pack. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours a black walnut color, opaque with a bit for translucency near the edge of the glass. Small creamy tan head.
Smell is a somewhat faint and one-dimensional coffee aroma.
Taste is much stronger than the aroma, a dark chocolate malt flavor upfront, with a biter dark roasted coffee flavor on the finish.
A very drinkable stout. Medium bodied, smooth with an appealing coffee flavor.

Beautiful crystal clear dark brown/ruby red color under a bright light with a light tan head. Aromas of charred wood, semi-sweet chocolate and dry husks. The flavor is amazing with milk and dark chocolate, a touch of vanilla, charred wood and a hint of roasted coffee. There's a light molasses sweetness and a dry, husky bitterness to balance it. Body is light and fairly thin (like SN's regular stout). Finishes with a lasting dry bitterness and dark chocolate. I thought I'd held this one too long, but the delicious flavors said otherwise.

Info: PCKGD 2/6/2020,12 oz. glass bottle, 50*F, sea level, snifter
L: Deep black (could barely see my phone's flashlight through the glass!). Finger of tan head. Lightly persistent, no lacing on glass.
S: Coffee beans, charcoal, rubber, asphalt.
T: Milky dark coffee (French/Italian roast?). Vanilla, cream. Dark chocolate. Rubber tire. Bark.
F: Chewy, full-bodied. Creamy.
Overall: Assertive coffee stout. Not a fan of the rubber notes that come through--Tastes like it's doing donuts on my tongue. Agree with previous reviews on hints of licorice. With smoke flavors, getting bark, charcoal, asphalt. These, in my opinion, are not properly balanced and I find myself trying to reach for any detectable hop flavors/aromas to brighten it up. Might taste better chilled?

Poured black with a two finger tan head dissipating slowly to a film. Light lacing. Nose has a hint of coffee and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt and coffee, with a hint of licorice. I thought the flavor was a bit weak. Medium - heavy body with light carbonation. A slight smoothness in feel.

Pitch black with a thin, beige head that leaves no lacing on the glass. Nose of caramel malt, coffe, sweet vanilla, rye and pumpernickel. Taste of rye bread, licorice, roasted malt, coffee beans and a hint of vanilla. Medium body with light carbonation.
