Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA will feature hop oil from distilled hops. The idea, which Sierra Nevada hasn't fully revealed, will extract pure hop oil from mature cones, to create an IPA that smells unlike any other IPA you've had. Aroma is key. Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA should finish at 6.2% ABV, 60 IBUs.

The beer pours out into Duvel glass a golden amber color with some light carbonation steadily rising The 1/2" white head soon recedes to a thin layer on the surface of the liquid along an island of foam and a nice ring around the glass. Sipping leaves patches and legs of lacing.
The resinous hop aroma includes grapefruit and pine along with a bit of earthy character. There does seem to be a bit of malt in the background.
The flavors include a resinous bitterness balanced by a nice malt backbone that helps to showcase some citrus and the pine resin from the hops. The malt background provides a nice counterpoint to smooth out the bitterness from the hops.
The body is medium to light and is slightly prickly with the moderate ongoing carbonation. The finish is medium in length and has a nice dry, crisp bitterness at the end, inviting another sip.
Overall this is a very nice beer that I'll definitely be having again. I'd say it is going to be a long term winner given the popularity of harvest ales in general. Being able to have one with that character this time of the year is very attractive. Kudos to Ken Grossman for recognizing the value of the oil extraction device when he first saw one.

Copenhagen 2/10 2017. 35,5 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. Wilderness of corn and hopson the label together with the uplifting news that IPA Hop Hunter is brewed with Farm distilled Hop Oil.
Pours slightly hazy with white head. Settles as thin but creamy layer of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is a little subdued. But pleasant enough. Sweet exotic fruit meeting up with more prominent citric notes. Grape fruit and pine.
Light carbonation and slightly thick palate.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by nice prominent bitterness. Aftertaste is grapefruit. Finish is semi-dry.
What it lacks in aroma it makes up for in taste.

I was interested in this beer, particularly because of the new technique. Good look: clear golden color, nice white head. Strong and pleasant aroma of pine with some caramel notes. Pine, some fruits ,and malt in a refreshing taste. Hoppy bitterness in aftertaste. Nothing very original, but just very good beer with fantastic drinkability.

Pours a pale golden colour with a small white head. It exhibits a faint hop smell. It tastes very good, lots of pine and floral notes coming through, with a strong hoppy finish. It has a medium carbonated body, overall very smooth.

5/19/24 On tap at Apothecary Ale House in Morgantown WV with Doug and Karen.
Was expecting more? Very drinkable, but I was expecting a more intense hop essence. Very decent IPA though.

Pours a clear gold. Thin foam. Heavy hop oil aroma. Somewhat muted bitter hop body. Dank bitter finish. Good but a little underwhelming.

12oz bottle from the variety pack; pours out a beautiful golden color with brilliant clarity and a small cap of bright white head. Hmmm, not much to this one, at least nothing that makes it stand out (which is usually my fear with SN)...hop oils, floral...clean palate for sure, with a light present bitterness and a familiar malty undertone. Minor dankness and resin.
Really isn't very special. Kind of disappointing, but not bad.

SN, respectfully please produce more lagers. Everything is IPA from you guys lately. Your nooner and Vienna Lager were top notch. You do lagers well!

It's uh, another hoppy hop beer. So uh, unique and uh, interesting and intriguing. So flavorful and a mastercraft of a beer. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but on the lighter side of the "super hop hop beer" kinda thing all these breweries got going.

Purchased in the Fan Favorites Variety Pack.
Look: Golden with a darkish hue, a little haze. Lots of head.
Smell: Light hop aroma.
Taste: An unusual hop flavor, must be from the oil.
Feel: Excellent. Smooth and kinda creamy.
Overall: Good beer, but not one of the best IPA’s I’ve had and probably wouldn’t seek it out again.

12oz bottle purchased from the fridge as a mix-a-six pack for $13.99. PKGD 06/26/23, so this beer is about 5 1/2 months old.
Look: It is a light gold to medium gold color with a very soft haze and a finger of whitish, small-bubbled head. It has a nice-looking appearance. Ample carbonation with tiny bubbles.
Smell: It's definitely piney, a bit woody. And I also get a subtle allium note (onion/garlic). There's like a spicy/sweet note going on that kind of reminds me of spicy ginger ale.
Taste: It is very refreshing. It has a nice biscuity maltiness up front before it is quickly overtaken by hops and bitterness. The finish is very dry with tons of pine and woody notes. Lots of citrus rind: predominantly grapefruit rind and lemon zest. There is a lot of spicy, peppery hop character on the finish, and it lingers long. It's interesting to experience since this beer packs so much hop character and so much bitterness with the distilled hop oil. We almost don't know what to do with this kind of hop intensity!
Feel: The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied. The beer also has a nice chewiness. Nicely carbonated.
Overall: It's interesting. I can't remember if I have had this before; I probably had it several years ago. It's a very hoppy beer, but it's not so wild especially compared to what we have become accustomed to from other breweries.
From the website:
Hop Hunter uses pure, powerful hop oil — drawn directly from the lupulin inside hop cones — for an extra blast of
flavor, turning this hop bounty into the ultimate IPA experience.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of citrus hops with slight piney notes. Tastes of sweet grain with nice piney and citrus hops. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Earthy, diesely, dank, soil kind of IPA. Not that bitter for a Sierra Nevada beer. The more you drink the more it reminds you of the earthy IPA's you get out of Oregon. Head retention is poor due to lipids I would assume. Hop oils are sharp on the nose, not so much on the palette. Lean malt bill, very moderate yet very unique. Tastes like a modern west coast IPA, very crushable. A personal dislike is the bottle art.
