Appearance: dark gold in color with a nice head that falls to a spotty surface covering.
Smell: citrus, pine, and some bitterness is picked up by the nose.
Taste: caramel, grapefruit, pine, pears, and a hearty bitterness. Some soft bourbon tones arrive late and are wrapped in a warming alcohol feel.
Mouthfeel: medium in body. Lightly crisp throughout with dryness arriving at the finish.
Overall: slow sipping but an interesting take on a DIPA as the barrel aging gives it some uniqueness. Great flavor profile.

On tap at the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room in Berkeley, CA.
Pours a clear dark gold with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, earthy hop, caramel, toffee, and bourbon aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, caramel, toffee, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink despite its higher ABV.

On tap on New Year’s Eve in the NC Sierra Nevada Taproom.
Clear amber body topped by a surpringly dense white head that has excellent retention and leaves sheets of sticky lacing. The head and lacing are truly exceptional for a barrel aged IPA!
Aroma: tropical fruits with faint grass, wood, bread, vanilla and bourbon.
Flavor: the aroma is nice but doesn't reflect the level of flavoring from the bourbon barrel aging. This is probably the best of the few BBA IPAs I've ever had.
Feel: Near medium body and medium carbonation.
Overall: an exceptional DIPA well worth seeking out.

I had this on draft at Meadhall last night. This was completely unexpectedly delicious. No forward hoppy tones but a mild almost caramel syrupy funkiness from the bourbon barrels worked nicely with the bitterness to make it very drinkable. Nice job!
