Poured a deep reddish amber body that is quite cloudy, with a finger of bubbly, thick white head. Overall impression of appearance is of a good example of a darker saison, but also with hints of a typical IPA. Scents of Belgian yeast giving aromas of white pepper, supported by aromas of citrus fruit at light levels, notes of bubblegum at moderate levels, sweet malt aromas, a light hint of sweet alcohol, light tartness and light floral aroma. Overall impression of aroma is of an interesting saison, relatively true to style but with small differences, mostly in the high level of spice. Pleasing. Flavor begins tart, with moderate sourness and phenols of white pepper mingling with tart citrus notes and light floral hop flavors. Middle continues these flavors with tartness increasing. Finish is medium-dry with notes of citrus peel, white pepper and stone fruit with a medium-light floral hop presence and some soft malt flavors. Aftertaste is dry with notes of white pepper, citrus peel and floral hops. Overall impression of flavor is of a very nice, rather dry and spicy saison, a good example of the style, but not the best. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with effervescent carbonation and a tart feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a nice saison. Overall this is a pretty good saison. Spice dominates but fruit is present and lends to aroma and flavor. It has a good mouthfeel and is a solid example of the style.
