I usually don't rate anything I've tried at a festival that runs on 2-oz pours, but since I swung by the Sierra booth four fucking times for this pour - I'm good with it. Dark brown with a light head. Aroma is nutty, earthy, roasty, toasty and thick with booze. Taste is roasted nuts, toasted malt, scotch, bourbon, charred wood, smoke, toffee with a vanilla-licorice kicker at the end. Absinthe wasn't noticeable or maybe I don't even know what it does to a hefty brown ale to begin with. Outstanding concoction that I'll probably never get to enjoy again.

Had a sample at EBF which was enough for me. The black licorice flavour was overwhelming and not in a good way. This beer was not for me.
