Tried a 2010 aged voble in 2022. Very little head decent lacing. Nose is kind of soapy smelling. Taste is buttery. Very smooth easy drinking dangerous.

Cloudy maroon with a large tan foamy head.
Smell is an intense and complex concoction of caramel, lemon, pine, and butterscotch. with even a little dank cannabis, after all this time?
Burning piney hops start to threaten the palate right off, but lighten up quickly, with lemon zest brightening and butterscotch and toffee rounding and smoothing.
Medium body, slightly sticky, ending semi-dry.
On draft at the taproom in NC.

The beer places a nice froth off-white head that dissipates quickly but still leaves a nice bit of foam on the surface of the beer. The beer itself is a very nice deep amber that is clear and extremely good looking. The amber also has a slight brown note to it and looks very clean.
The smell is good. It has a strong pine hop note mixed in with a good caramel malt body for contrast. The oak note is a bit present and comes off as a neutral wood and separate from the other notes. Also, a slight boozy note.
The taste is good. It has a nice pine hop note with a very light grapefruit. The malt note is fairly sweet and a nice caramel body to act as a contrast to the strong hop notes. The oak notes are fairly subtle and while the vanilla is there, it gets lost in the caramel notes. Essentially, the wood notes are better integrated with the beer.
The feel is pretty good. It has a heavy body but feels a lot thinner than someone would expect it to be. It has a very dry finish. The carbonation is very light and tingly and soft.
Overall, this is a pretty good beer worth getting your hands on if you can . While it doesn't brake any new ground or super awesome mind blowing hopsplosion, it's a good beer with a good choice of beer in the blend.

Not a beer I expect many in this day and age to fully appreciate, but it's one of the most beautiful beers I've had in a while.
Super nuanced bourbon and oaky aroma. Malty with enough bitterness to keep things from feeling sweet. Lots of oak and vanilla flavor with no booziness.
Drinkability was much higher than I'd expect and the mouthful and carbonation was perfect - full and silky. Everything I'd expect and more from Sierra Nevada, and exactly why I fear its wonderful subtlety will go unappreciated by far too many.

Appearance: pours a reddish orange color with a 1/2" head that lasts a long time. Nice lace paints the glass.
Smell: earthy hops with a bunch of citrus.
Taste: caramel, toffee, lemon zest, grapefruit, papaya, hint of brown sugar, and a bunch of earthy and woody hop tones.
Mouthfeel: heavy in body. Light crispness at the start, smoother and a bit dry at the finish. Long lasting aftertaste.
Overall: a cranked up version of Bigfoot in my opinion. Really good and satisfying. Slow sipping beer that is very enjoyable.

On tap at the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room in Berkeley, CA.
Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, citrus fruit, citrus zest, floral, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is an interesting blend of beers and barrel aging, but I was expecting more from this one based on the description.

On tap at The Torpedo Room. Served in a snifter.
Copper-colored. Excellent clarity. Foamy cream-colored head. 5
Smells floral and perfumey. Not that nice to smell really. 3
Flavor starts floral and perfumey but mellows to a sweeter caramel, toffee and plums and prunes. Kind of toast-like in the finish. 3.5
Feels a little undercarbed but smooth and creamy past the bitter and yeasty start. 3.5
It's cool but underwhelms for an anniversary beer.
