On draught at Old Chicago.

Pours pitch black with an inch of tannish foam.

Not much smell to it. Roasted malt, faintest hint of mint when it is in the name.

Mint barely noticeable in the taste. Heavy roasted malt quite bitter and harsh to my palate. Hint of coffee, dark chocolate.

Substantial body, fairly smooth.
Not a repeat beer for me.

Part of my 4 "Make your own Flight" at Old Chicago here in Papillion, Nebraska this past Friday night on 3/31/17 which was on tap. Black in color with not too much of a head. Hint of mint for the aroma and the taste pretty much followed the nose. Close to medium-bodied with no bitter finish. Really enjoyed this one.

Served on tap in a point glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brown nearly black color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has fantastic retention, slowly fading over time to leave nice rings of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a roasted malt aroma that is accompanied by a big mint smell. Along with these aromas comes some sweeter caramel and cocoa as well as a bit of herb. Overall it smells a little bit like a mint peppermint patty. Very delicious!!
Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasted malt flavor that has some chocolate sweetness and a decent hit of mint right from the start. Upfront there is also a little bit of vanilla, which creates a sweet taste straight out the gate. As the taste moves forward all those flavors remain mainly constant, with a bit of an increase in the mint and some herb. These flavors take the taste to the end, leaving one with a peppermint patty like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average to slightly thicker and chewy with a carbonation level that is low. For the mint peppermint patty flavors the feel is awesome and makes for a nice sipping dessert brew.
Overall – This is an awesome sweet mint chocolate dessert brew. It delivers a smooth feel and a great flavor. This is one they should add to their seasonal rotation, for the cold weather holidays.
