SN/Hop Grenade Beer Camp #167.
Draft at the release party at THG. Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a clear burnt amber with a finger of creamy and soft looking off-white head that slowly faded into a thick and fuzzy collar.
S: Crisp and clean roasted grain nose, light and toasty, with hints of bread crust and earthy bitter hops. I get a very subtle honey note as well.
T: Deep roasty malt backbone with a touch of dry and crisp graininess and slight honey sweetness. Hops are spicy and earthy with a pepper finish and leafy bitter aftertaste. Slight herbal lemon quality, very subtle medicinal quality, very slight cocoa powder in the aftertaste.
M: Light body, crisp and clean mouthfeel, bitter and earthy flavors but clean balancing roast and malt sweetness. Smooth a soft carbonation with a drying finish. Residual roasted flavors linger.
O: I liked it, clean and easy to drink, but the hop profile is not my personal favorite. I'm not necessarily saying it needs to be different, it's just not my favorite flavor combination.
