Dipping their toe into the exotic citrus, tropical and herbal medley that makes state-of-the-art IPA so alluring, the Sierra Nevada brewers are on that leading edge with the most mystical hops from the land down under for their pale ale that shows a gentler bitterness and full floral, fruity flavor.

Karaoke Fail pours surprisingly bright and light in color- nearly pale as pilsner, the beer's light golden appearance is topped with a creamy, cottony swath of foam. Its tangy scent is a medley of grapefruit, orange, mango, passionfruit, geranium and fresh cilantro. Gentle sweetness is of delicate honey, angel-food cake and simple caramel syrups.

The malt deliberately breaks apart and dissolves on the middle palate. In walks the newer and exciting hops for a medley of flavors that are sharp with green berries, under-ripened citrus, passionfruit, dragonfruit, gooseberry, white grape, mango and melon. Its floral and fruity demeanor trends dry, bitter and spicy. Hints of peppery bitterness, fresh herb and an overall grassy, citrus peel all grip the throat tightly.

Dry, crisp and clean, the beer's malt influence is fast-fleeting on the finish as the hops and a cracker-like aridness frames the beer's bitterly balanced finish. An aftertaste of cannabis, sassafras, white grape and lemon keep the flavors tight and highly refreshing.
